Deinonychus, Greek for “terrible claw.” This dinosaur’s discovery in the mid-60’s greatly broadened our understanding of dromaeosaurids (or “raptors”), since previous specimens were horribly incomplete. More recent dinosaur digs have revealed that they had feathers and paleontologists today believe that deinonychus used its claws to climb trees and flapped its “wings” to maintain its balance.
Last summer, I read Pinocchio out of curiosity. It’s actually a pretty neat (albeit blatantly moralistic) story. My favorite character would have to be The Fairy With Turquoise Hair. A mysterious shape-shifter, the Fairy helps guide Pinocchio on the path to real boyhood. She also claims to be dead.

An Illustration Friday submission. The theme was burst. Just a few minutes after posting it on DeviantART, someone commented that this piece vaguely reminded him of Nickelodeon’s Doug. Actually, I too was reminded of 90’s cartoons as I was creating this piece.
